Get More Done with Evernote

Tools

During the call I mentioned a several tools that I use in combination with Evernote and help me be even more productive.

IFTTT - Tagline: Put the internet to work for you
http://ifttt.com/
This tool is a collection of useful recipes for other web-based tools. As an example I can have a recipe that sends all images I favourite on Flickr to a folder in my Evernote. I can also save all posts from a Facebook group by sending them automatically to me in an email. The possibilities are almost endless if there is a IFTTT channel for your tool.

Feedly - Tagline: Your News. Delivered.
http://feedly.com/
My RSS reader where I read news and blog posts. I don't subscribe to all blogs that I find interesting over email as I don't want to fill my inbox with newsletters but I do subscribe to a lot of blogs over RSS. There they sit until I have time to read them and I can even read them offline and without any distractions like advertisements.

Pocket - Tagline: When you find something you want to view later, put it in Pocket
http://getpocket.com/
This one is a like a magazine of all the things that I want to read later. I have an extension on my Chrome browser and send articles, websites and videos to Pocket. In that way it doesn't fill up my email or Evernote because once I have read an article I just tick it off and it is gone and if I found it really interesting I can still send it to Evernote.

Remember The Milk - Tagline: The best way to manage your tasks. Never forget the milk (or anything else) again.
http://www.rememberthemilk.com/
This is my online to-do list and task manager that I have used for years and despite many other good tools I still stick with this one because it is so simple and user-friendly. I can enter tasks directly from my email with short codes like in Evernote and I can even manage my Evernote reminders directly with Remember The Milk.

Expensify - Tagline: Expense Reports that don't suck
http://www.expensify.com/
This is a tool to manage expenses whether you work for yourself or someone else. You can snap a picture of a receipt and Expensify automatically detects the amount, the merchant and currency and files it correctly according to your rules. In Evernote you can have a special Expensify folder that the tool then automatically syncs.

Xero - Tagline: Xero is online accounting for your small business
http://www.xero.com/
After testing many different accounting tools and getting very frustrated about none of them being modern and user friendly I found Xero. It is constantly getting better, more user friendly and more connected to other services like Expensify. I can even create invoices on my mobile and my customers can pay directly with a Paypal link.

When sending an email to Evernote, you can change the subject line to tell Evernote where and how it should be saved. Here's an example of a subject line:
