How a Chronic Illness Inspired Me to Become an Online Entrepreneur

Host SigrunPublished Updated 18 min listen1 min read

Many people like to remind us that health is wealth. Unfortunately, chronic pain and illness affects millions of people worldwide. In many cases, it leads to having to retire, being let go from a job and having a hard time finding a new job. This is what happened to me.

Before I started my online business, I was the Managing Director at a medical technology company and was experiencing excruciating pain. Despite visiting multiple doctors and specialists, no one could figure out what was wrong or how to treat my pain. As you can imagine, this was deeply frustrating.

Eventually, frustration was the least of my concerns. I could no longer work, and that meant that I needed to change the direction of my life. This was the point that I decided to start an online business - the first step on a journey that still continues today.

While this was a challenging time in my life, in some respects, chronic pain turned out to be the best thing that could have happened to me.

In this episode, I share my journey with Repetitive Strain Injury, and how the diagnosis of a chronic illness inspired me to become an online entrepreneur.

It may not be the best solution for everyone with a chronic illness, but for me, it was the best medicine. - Sigrun
