Why Dr. Helen Maffini Says We Are Further Ahead on AI Than We Feel | SOMBA® Advantage+ Review

Where Helen Started

Helen is the founder and director of MindBE Education. For many years she has worked with parents, schools and teachers on wellbeing: mindfulness, joy, happiness and positive psychology. Much of her work is with very young children, and she also works with adults.

We met in 2014. Helen was living in Ottawa, Canada. An event popped up on her Facebook, and I was one of the speakers.

“As soon as she spoke […] I was like oh this lady is really interesting I like this.”

Before SOMBA® Advantage+, a lot was going on in her life. She had just finished her PhD, she moved, and people in her family were sick. She thought about semi-retiring. She also asked herself if her courses would still last, now that anyone can type a prompt and get the information.

AI had already helped her a lot, personally and in her work. When she saw the new program, she did not wait:

“I know that every time I hear Sigrun talk even if I’m doing that thing already I always get a little insight or a new way to look at things. So I was like sign me up as soon as I saw the program.”

What Happened in SOMBA® Advantage+

Helen already used AI a lot. What changed was the push to do the things on her AI to-do list. One example is her second brain in Obsidian:

“I looked at it along like I think in January, but I was just like, “Do I need that?” But now I’m like, “Oh, I really do need that.” And it’s been so helpful.“

She learns new tools all the time, like Riverside. The agents now work in the background while she goes out and does other things, and she comes back to the work when she has time.

The group gives her focus:

“If I wasn’t in the program, I’d be doing my AI and things, but I wouldn’t maybe have like a clear focus of doing this step and this step and actually working more on my business than just, you know, creating things that I like for fun.”

She also likes the calls with me in SOMBA® Advantage+:

“Every call I’ve had with her in all these years since 2014 or whenever it is, I’ve always gotten something really things that have changed my business drastically.”

Where She Is Now

When we recorded her review, Helen was pivoting her business a bit. She is thinking about how she can take what she already has and use AI to help people in new ways. The program has given her new energy:

“It’s actually energized me, I think.”

She sees that the students in the program are ahead of most people:

“We are so far ahead actually, even though we feel like we’re behind.”

“So yes, definitely recommend it to anyone who is starting out or even very further along in their business. There’s always things to learn and always new things to try.”
